Set Default Value Formula for Prompt-Based Field
Yes, you can use Default Value Formulas with prompt-driven fields.
- Your formula must output the GUID of the prompt, not the label.
- Your GUID must be lowercase.
Default Value Formulas only fire on the initial form load.
Because application pages are forms that are saved each time the user navigates away, Default Value Formulas will only work the very first time a person loads a particular application page.
In this somewhat contrived example, we'll set the Academic Interest field to whatever the Rank 1 prompt happens to be for this list of prompts:
